The Faculty of the Psychology of Older People's aims are as follows:
- Publicising the importance of psychological issues in how we age
- Challenging stereotypes and age discrimination
- Maintaining a forum for exchange of expert knowledge and skills
- Provide & encourage education and training about late life issues
- Promote research which enhances the lives of older people
- Pioneering innovations in care
- Collaborating with professional and voluntary groups
- Advising and influencing policy and services
- Supporting members at local, national and international levels

The faculty membership grades are as follows:
Full Membership - £30
This grade is available to Full Members of the Division of Clinical Psychology
Associate - £30
This grade is available to General members of the Division of Clinical Psychology and non-division members
Affiliate - £10
This grade is available to General (Pre-Training) and In-Training members of the Division of Clinical Psychology
